What we do

Our Events and Fundraising Activities

We have a regular programme of weekly events during term time, usually at 7:30 pm on Thursdays in More House, you can find this term's programme on our events page. Many of our members are regular attendees of chaplaincy events, which includes both regular worship, and occasional socials.

In addition to those three types of event, we also engage in fundraising activity for our chosen charity for the year. Find out more about this year's charity here. Fundraising activities in previous years have included packing people's bags in Morrrisons, busking Christmas Carols in York city centre, and even flipping 20p coins into a bucket! Our biggest fundraising activity is our sponsored hike, the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, a 25 mile circular route in the Yorkshire Dales, that also involves going over three mountains.

Starting in the academic year 2021/22 we have started working alongside the SVP (St Vincent De Paul). In doing this we have helped to feed the homeless around York once or twice a week, help aid those in the community who need it (for example with gardening) and increased our own faith through acts of service. If you are interested in getting involved please contact us over out email, social media or contact Fr Richard directly.

We also have two major events per year. Our major social event is the end of year ball, which for the last couple of years has taken place in the York Hilton. This is a night at the end of the year when all members of the society, and their friends, sit down for a meal, say goodbye to those who are leaving that year, and dance on into the night.

Our major spiritual event is our annual retreat to Ampleforth Abbey, where we spend the weekend reflecting on the past year, and living, eating and praying with each other in the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors.
